The athletic track of “La Pista di Pietro”, made by transforming exhausted trainers, will bring with it a part of the dream of the great athlete: to continue running.
“La Pista di Pietro” is an initiative that joins the project “Il Giardino di Betty” and aims to create new athletic tracks, dedicated to the famous athlete Pietro Mennea, using as a basis for the bottom of the material obtained from the recycling of sports shoes, tires and exhausted inner tubes. The wife of the Olympic champion of 200 meters flat in Moscow 1980 and holder of the world record for 17 years, Manuela Olivieri, joined the initiative by donating a pair of running shoes of her husband, a symbolic gesture to testify that in each “La pista di Pietro” there will be a small portion of material of these famous shoes.
